Practical NursingLPN's care for patients in a variety of care settings.  They are employed in acute care (hospital setting), assisted living facilities, clinics and physician's offices, and long-term care facilities.  Practical nurses are a vital member of the healthcare team no matter what setting they work in.  They provide "hands-on" care to patients through utilization of the nursing process.  They use the skills of assessment, intervention, medication administration, and evaluation to provide quality care.  Practical nurses take the NCLEX - PN (National Council Licensure Exam) upon completion of their education to receive their nursing licensure in the state where they practice.  Employment and job opportunity in the area is expected to increase in years to come.  Due to the rigorous nature of the program, special admissions  procedures are required.
